With this in mind, RMHN has recently formed an Ancillary Provider Committee, in order to better stay on top of the issues that affect all of us. One of the first steps the committee has taken is to conduct a survey to identify key concerns and to summarize the results. Among the topics raised were reimbursement matters, coding questions, promotion of non-physician provider services and getting assistance with credentialing by new insurance companies.The survey results are included here and reflect those issues you raised as well as details of the major topics.
In general, the top three issues from the survey are:
- Awareness of RMHN: define who RMHN is, its role, its services and what it can do to advocate for providers;
- Education opportunities: regarding important issues such as managed care, insurance companies, policies, billing, coding and other pertinent topics; and
- Reimbursement concerns.
To be sure that we’re fully considering the needs of our ancillary providers in our decision-making process, we’ve also created two new positions on our board of directors and filled them with members of our Ancillary Provider Committee. It’s important to us that we create an awareness of the importance of ancillary services among physicians, hospitals and payors and we saw this as a crucial first step.
Our next step will be to develop an action plan to address these issues and others. Wherever appropriate within the scope of our expertise, RMHN wants to take the role of advocate for our ancillary members.We also want to continue to expand communications with you, so we urge you to participate in future surveys and to check our web site regularly for updates and information pertinent to you.
